THE START OF SEDIR
Sedir Food was started in 2001 when the brothers Adel & Wael sat and talked with their father. He thought the brothers should enter the same industry that he himself and generations before him had done back home in Iraq - namely the food industry.
The family ran a wheat flour mill, rice factory and a wholesale shop where they bought in different types of agricultural products and raw materials during different seasons. They bought directly from the farmers via promotions and then cleaned, sorted, packed and finally exported to several different countries.
The name Sedir comes from a historically known and fabulous castle that was built about 1600 years ago in the middle of Iraq.
OUR HISTORY
At first, Sedir Food rented a warehouse of approx. 220 square meters in Årsta Partihallarna, where the business was founded. In 2003, the then company was transformed into a trading company and Sedir Food made its first million in sales in the course of a month. Soon after, there was no other option than to rent an extra warehouse of approx. 500 square meters in Årsta combi terminal and Sedir Food reached SEK 15 million in annual sales. In 2005, Sedir Food took the next step and left the old premises to move to a premises of 1,200 square meters. The business will remain here until 2018.
Sedir Food maintained steady growth and more of the brothers joined the company after their studies. They quickly outgrew their existing warehouses and in 2018, Sedir Food bought its first property in Tyresö of 3,733 square meters in order to keep up the steady growth and get an even better management of the entire company. Just one year later, Sedir Food reached an annual turnover of SEK 101 million to reach a full turnover of SEK 140 million in 2020.
